Ulstrup Mill
Ulstrup Mill was built in 1862 as a farm mill for the nearby Møllegården farm. Its primary function was to grind and supply grain to the farm and Ulstrup Bakery, which was owned by the same person. The mill, which burned down in 1883 and was rebuilt in 1894, stands free on a hill with views over the beautiful and distinctive landscape.
Ulstrup Mill is an important and beautiful cultural heritage site on Røsnæs and now functions as a museum mill, owned by Røsnæs Development and Residents’ Association, which took over the mill in 1990. In 2007, the mill was extensively restored externally and now stands beautifully with shingle roofing and restored sails. In 2014, a new Mill House was built to the west of the mill.
Inside, you can find parts of the original equipment, including grinders, an oat roller, parts for a shelling mill, sieves, and other machinery.
Come and experience a beautifully restored mill where you can feel the atmosphere of a mill from “when grandpa was young.” You can enjoy a great experience and hear authentic stories from one of the many volunteer millers. Admission is free, and the mill is open for visits during the summer season every Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM and every Tuesday from 11 AM to 12 PM. Additionally, the mill is open during the autumn holiday (week 42) from 10 AM to 3 PM. For the rest of the year, Ulstrup Mill is open by appointment.
